WEDNESDAYS 7.20 pm-8.15 pm starting March 8th 2023!
(Come for 1 class, or do both with Zumba 6.15pm-7.10pm = excellent combination for a full work-out!)
> You don't need to start on March 8th but can join the class later.
> Last of spring season: June 21st. First autumn class: August 9th.
> Open level class: no experience needed, all levels welcome.
PRESENTATION:
This class will draw together features of YOGA, PILATES and DANCE STRETCHING will do us immensly good, and be the perfect complement to our cardio Zumba classes, and our muscle building Abs-butt-arms class on Sundays.
Our experienced teacher is licenced to teach Vinyasa yoga, Pilates, and a trained dancer.
We'll start the class with a warm-up, then mix dynamic exercises with static exercises where we hold the pose longer, and finish with a relaxation. Some parts of the class will be recurrent, other vary from class to class. We'll benefit from the mind-body connection of these disciplines to enhance both physical and mental endurance.
Due to a sedentary lifestyle most of us start loosing 1 % of flexibility per year from our early thirties (!). Micro-stresses on our muscles can glue them together into scar tissue that tightens the surrounding tissue and restraints our range of movement, resulting in a lack of flexibility that ages us. The aim of our stretching is to give us pain-free, active, full range of movement where we can stretch further without even feeling the stretch - thus feel freer! The aim is also to improve circulation and posture.
- Yoga: helps to improve flexibility, our range of motion and strength, and to reduce stress. It will help us to build body awareness.
- Pilates: is a low impact but powerful exercise technique that strengthens our muscles while keeping them balanced and flexible. It accentuates posture and alignment in slow movements, focusing on precision and control.
- Dance stretching: flexibility building techniques from the professional dance world, both stretching and strengthening muscles.
